In the month of October each year, we have marked one weekend in our calendar which is very special for the family. It is the weekend of the LEGOWORLD event in Utrecht, Netherlands. After a 1,5 hour drive from home, we arrived around 10 AM at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht.
Six exhibition halls full of LEGO themes, games and workshops were setup to entertain the kids and parents. Dependent on the age of your child, you could find LEGO Duplo (the youngest kids) to LEGO Technics and LEGO Mindstorms (program a LEGO robot for teenagers).
We started the day with LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Friends. Then kids moved on to Warner Bros Lego Games. After lunch they started building creative constructions for the LEGO Minecraft landscape. Each exhibition hall was scattered with Lego building blocks spaces. Some had special tasks (build a piece of a portret, puzzle, build a wall,etc..)
It is always amazing to see many parents building together with their kids or building based on their own creativity. We did too !
The section which I personally like the most, is LEGO FANS. This space is full of creatures, landscapes and special themes spaces full of Lego Animation build by Lego Fans adults. Those hobbyists spend months or years to build their LEGO dream landscape or creature. Admire here some pictures.
At the end of the day, kids want a LEGO building box as a gift. Personally I always set a limited amount for which they can chose. My son did chose something cheaper and asked his leftover amount back…smart move 🙂 My daughter spend slightly over…another tactic. Well, the main thing is that they spend a creative day using their own creativity. And we enjoyed quality time with them…
So if you want to see a Mc Laren, Harry Potter, the basketball player Carter or any animal in Lego, we recommend you to mark Legoworld 2018 in your calendar or search for this event close to your home.
