Belgium Must-See : Visit to Oostende

On the 4th of March, we decided to meet up with friends at the city of Oostende. As I rarely go to the sea coast in winter time, we decided to make it a day trip.

Before leaving to town, I did some internet research and here are the 7 reasons why you should visit Oostende. You can find on link WHY VISIT OOSTENDE

We did decide to go for ONE FULL DAY for the following 3 IMPORTANT REASONS

1. SEA AIR IS HEALTHY

Sanatoriums at the seaside were popular for a reason at the turn of the century and the following Belle Epoque period. People came from far and wide to the Belgian coast to regain strength thanks to the healthy sea air. That air is still the same one it used to be. The sea is still ubiquitous in Ostend and that means, in the air as well. There is no such scent as the salty scent of the sea!

2. THERE IS NOTHING MORE PLEASANT THAN A WALK ON THE BEACH IN WINTER

People who believe that beaches, sand and seasides are only things for the summer period, are wrong. What is more pleasant than clearing your mind on the beach in winter? There is no better view than the magical one of crashing waves, fresh and salty sea air and a beach with an amazing winter sky. Look at our pictures below to understand

3. THERE IS A WIDE RANGE OF SHOPPING POSSIBILITIES WAITING FOR YOU

Ostend has a lot of nice stores and beautiful boutiques that are perfect for your next shopping spree. Furthermore, all the shops in the city centre are open every Sunday. Shopping and having an amazing time doing so is a great combination.

First we did a walk on the beach and enjoyed the beauty of the sea, sand, wind and sky. As it was raining a little, we decided after a while to eat a bite in a local sandwich bar. After our lunch we went shopping as it was a very rainy day. There was also carnaval in the city. This is always the first weekend of March.

After few hours shopping and spending some money, we did meet up with friends for dinner in the meat grill restaurant Den Artiest. The food was delicious and we had a great evening with our friends.
